Working on the Mercury has been an incredible journey that started with a simple idea: celebrate the legendary spirit of Queen through an unforgettable live experience. From the very beginning, I knew lighting would play a crucial role in telling this story—capturing the energy, drama, and iconic moments of Freddie Mercury and the band.
Designing the lighting for this show wasn’t about replicating just any rock concert; it was about recreating the magic that made Queen unique. I focused on dynamic colors, bold contrasts, and rhythmic movements that echo the emotion in every song. Each cue is carefully crafted to highlight key moments, from the intimate softness of “Love of My Life” to the explosive power of “We Will Rock You.”
What excites me most is how lighting brings the performance to life, creating a connection between the audience and the music they love - Taking them back to a different time, a different decade. It’s about storytelling for me — using older lighting techniques to amplify the passion of the craft on stage and let the true spirit of Queen shine through.
Working on this tribute has been a perfect blend of creativity and technical skill, driven by the simple idea of sharing something meaningful with fans old and new. It reminds me that every great project starts with a story—and it’s our job to tell it in a way that feels authentic and memorable.
